Students are scheduled to be off for the Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday and Friday, November 26th and 27th. Students will have a modified schedule on Wednesday:
Dear MAYA STRONG Families!
There is no higher priority than the safety and health of our students. During this extraordinary time, we demonstrate this through our enhanced cleaning protocols, physical distancing, face-covering policies, and hand sanitation practices. We also demonstrate this through prompt communication with the Maricopa County Health Department, which is the cause of this letter today.
The Maricopa County Health Department dashboard has indicated that our zip code has been identified as a substantial risk area. Substantial risk means we have more than 100 cases OR greater than 10% positivity in the zip code that we serve at Maya High School. Based on this information, if our school is in a substantial risk category for two weeks in a row, the dashboard recommends that we return to virtual learning. We are at the point in time where the data reflects a substantial risk and therefore will return to virtual classes only beginning Monday, 11/16/2020. PLEASE NOTE: Maya High School has not had a documented case on campus, this decision is based on the recommendation of the Maricopa County Health Department.
IMPORTANT: Students who need on-campus support and a focused workspace are still able to come to campus. MAYA STRONG Teachers and Instructional Staff will be on hand to support them in their learning. Students may be able to receive direct support from certain teachers and others through Google-Meet video conference only.
As always as a #MayaFamily and community we will continue to strive to be MAYA STRONG; by being ALL IN, accepting ANY CHALLENGE and making NO EXCUSES! We invite you to do the same alongside your student, their teachers and staff! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.
WE ARE MAYA!
John Anderson, Principal
