![]() More exciting things are happening at Maya High School! Maya student, Jessica Ayala headed to an award reception in Washington D.C. where the Phoenix Region was recognized as one of “America’s Best Intergenerational Communities” by the MetLife Foundation and Generations United. Jessica participated in the Ambassadors of Compassion program last school year, along with Ms. Copeland, Mr. Johnson (both volunteers from Experience Matters) and Mrs. Rowe, the assistant principal of Maya High School. Mr. Johnson, still continues his work externally in the community and the other, Ms. Copeland worked with our aforementioned AOC student group. Ms. Copeland and Jessica both wrote about their experience as part of the application that helped them get selected. The Maya Community is proud to have Jessica and Ms. Copeland represent us and the Greater Phoenix area in Washington D.C. to receive this award!
